Theatre Visits
Theatre Visits for 2024Our next trip will be to see THE KITE RUNNER at the Theatre Royal Bath on Wednesday 20th March 2024 at 2.30 pm. The play is based on the acclaimed novel by Khaled Hosseini and is set one afternoon in Kabul where the streets are full of excitement for a kite flying tournament but nobody can imagine the events that follow. This is a performance that we planned to see in March 2020 and was cancelled due to the imposition of Covid restrictions.
After a slow start, I now have enough people going to see The Kite Runner. There are still a few tickets available priced at £60 but payment will be required no later than the Monday Meeting on 4th December. Coach only travel to Bath is also available at £17, as usual non member friends may attend on payment of an extra £1. I have selected for our May trip A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL by Alan Ayckbourn at Salisbury Playhouse on Thursday 16th May at 2.15 pm. The play is about a recently widowed man who joins his Local Amateur Operatic Society in the hope of finding new friends and meaning in his life but ends up with a lot more than he bargained for. The cost will be £45 to include coach travel from either Weymouth or Dorchester and theatre ticket, £1 extra for non members. We will depart Weymouth at 9.45 am and various Dorchester locations from 10 am to 10,15 am, arriving in Salisbury some time after 11 am, allowing time for visiting the City and maybe lunch.
We should be back in Dorchester between 6 pm and 6.15 pm. I suggest that as we approach an expensive time of year, if you would like to go, please just let me have expressions of interest for now and payment can be made in the New Year. Coach travel only to Salisbury, if you are not going to the theatre, will be £10.00 for members and £11 for non members. |
I am also acquiring tickets to see the comedy musical SISTER ACT at Thomas Hardye School on Friday 31st May 2024. Details to follow in January. We get a group discount for this show.
To book Theatre Visits please get in touch with Peter Scaife, Group Leader
email: theatre@dorchesteru3a.org.uk Telephone: 01305 262611 Non-members may attend upon payment of an extra £1-00p. Peter Scaife Group Leader As you may have seen in the local press, the coach company I have used for the past ten years, Barry's of Weymouth, are going to close down and are not taking any further bookings. All the other coach companies are fully booked for the summer months. Bluebird of Weymouth can supply us with coaches for future outings from September. As usual, payment is by cheque, cash or direct Bank Transfer. I am happy to allow any non-member friends come along, they just pay an extra £1. This also applies to members of any other u3a but not Dorchester.
