German Language: two groups
Beginners and Conversation

Learning German and enjoying conversation are excellent ways of exploring friendship and the culture of a large European country.
Do explore the group directory to find details of a suitable group for you, and the contact if you need to know more or would like to join.
German for Beginners
This is currently being organised as a self-help group led by Tim West.

Meetings are every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon. The classes are held at the Dorchester Community Church in Poundbury.
We are a lively, mixed-ability group. We encourage willing members to run learning exercises, and we draw on expertise for grammar and conversation.
The sessions are split into two halves so that we can accommodate a range of members, from absolute beginners through to “very sound”. All participate in both halves. The beginners start from scratch and expand their knowledge quickly, while the more advanced enjoy   re-visiting material and reinforcing their knowledge. It is all working well! Above all, the group is mutually supportive and newcomers quickly become regular group members.

Please contact [email protected] for more details.
German Conversation
The group is for German speakers wanting to develop or maintain some level of fluency. We range from pretty rusty to bilingual and we make anyone welcome who is happy to have a go. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10 -11.30 at a member's house in the centre of Dorchester.  We chat, read articles or poems, watch and discuss the news. Usually we have a theme for the meeting e.g. ‘Autumn Festivals’ ‘Hobbies’ ‘German Humour’, so that members can prepare a contribution. The atmosphere is relaxed, we laugh a lot and enjoy word games. We welcome new members.
