Hello MOTO,
Thank you to those of you who attended one of our meet ups in June. We seem to have settled into a fairly regular routine now with weekly Monday coffee and then a lunch, brunch, walk and skittles every month. Whilst these are all enjoyable and fairly well attended, it would be good if some other ideas were put forward. Do let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to try and organise. This is the July plan : Monday coffee - we discussed some other cafes at the planning meeting but decided to stick to Walnut Grove for July and will carry that through August as well. 1030 every Monday up to and including 29 August. Friday 15 July - Lunch at YC in Brewery Square (next to Dukes Auction House) at 1230 - email me to book Tuesday 19 July - Skittles at The Colliton Club - meet for coffee at 1030 followed by skittles and then lunch - email to book Tuesday 26 July - walk at The Blue Pool near Wareham -leave Dorchester at 11am - Di and I will drive so we only have 6 places on this unless anyone else drives - email me or Di to book Wednesday 27 July - Brunch 11am at Shire Hall - email me to book Sunday 31st July - Sunday Lunch at Pine Lodge Farmhouse 1pm - email me to book Other happenings that may be of interest: Sunday 10 July - Poundbury Independent Market returns 10-4 with craft and food stalls - more info from the following link https://dorchester.nub.news/news/local-news/get-set-for-poundbury-independent-market-this-sunday-141058 Sunday 10 July - gardens open 2-5 at numbers 6 / 8 / 18 South Walks Road - £5 entrance ( all to charity) https://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/20123147.three-stunning-exotic-dorchester-gardens-open-public-part-scheme/ Crossways Travel have a trip planned to Shepton Mallett for the Craft for Crafters Exhibition on Friday 30 September. £34 if we can get a group of 10 together. More info - http://www.bathandwestshowground.com/tag/craft-4-crafters Contact Libby for more details and to book Thanks to all of you who came to the planning meeting. Our next meeting will be Wednesday 7 September at 2pm in the downstairs classroom at the Parish Centre. However, as we are having Sunday lunch on July 31 perhaps we can organise a few things for August then. On a personal note, since moving into my new flat a couple of months back, it has been come very apparent that Vodafone barely has a signal at the bottom end of South Street. Both my numbers are below but my landline is the best best for getting through. Look forward to seeing you all soon, Kind regards Chris Langthorne

Hello MOTO
Many thanks to everyone that attended one of our get togethers in May. We enjoyed a rather nice walk along the beach wall from The Oasis Cafe to Greenhill Gardens and back. I had every intention of taking a picture for this update but realised on the way home I'd forgotten to do it. Just imagine, hardly a cloud in the sky, very hot sun, blue sea and a gaggle of windswept ladies and you'll get the picture!! Thanks to June for organising lunch at PIP Cafe in Poundbury. It was a new venue for some of us and it was really enjoyable. Sunday Lunch at Pine Lodge was as always, very tasty and that will be repeated in June - see below for details. Brunch at Shire Hall ended up being cancelled as only 1 person wanted to come. Have already got more interest for June so that will go ahead. Lunch at Lee Garden was a great idea until I tried to book the table to find out that they didn't open until 5pm. A few of us did go in the evening but we all thought it quite expensive so we'll put that one on hold for now. Now for June: Monday Coffee - we have all been disappointed this month by the shockingly slow service in Hendover Cafe. We decided that for June we would go to Walnut Grove - first one will be Monday 13th at 1030 Friday 10 June - lunch at Potters Cafe, Durngate Street. at 1.30 - need an email or call to tell me you're coming by the morning of Wednesday 8th at the very latest please. Thurs 16 June - our little trip to the seaside at West Bay - leaving Dorch at 11am, both Diane and I will drive. There are currently 3 spare car seats. We'll sort out who's in which car and your pick up point when we finalise numbers. Please email either me or Diane if you'd like to join us. Wednesday 22 June - brunch at Shire Hall at 11am - email me or call me please if you'd like to come (Sandra/Ronnie already got you down) Sunday 26 June - lunch at Pine Lodge 12.30 - e mail or call me please to book Thursday 30 June - Skittles followed by lunch at The Colliton Club - meet at 1030 for coffee first. This was so much fun last month. Email Diane to book. Other ideas - Thurs June 9 10-1 Barnardo's are holding a coffee morning at Warmwell House The Great Big Escape, Brewery Square. Angela is interested in trying this. In a nutshell a group of up to 8 has to escape from a room using the clues provided. There is a website thegreatbigescape.com - take a look and if you'd like to have a go at this then let me know and we'll see if we can put a group together. Thanks to all of those who came to the planning meeting - our next meeting will be Wednesday 6 July at 2pm in the downstairs classroom at the Parish Centre Look forward to seeing you all soon Kind regards Chris Langthorne Hello MOTO,
So let's start with a picture of some MOTO Belles among the bluebells on yesterdays walk at Thorncombe Wood (picture removed) Many thanks to Kerry, Cath and Ruth for hosting events in April/May. I'm writing this update having just got back from Ruth's Skittles and Lunch at The Colliton Club. Well what fun we had and everyone who was there agreed that it should become a monthly event. So on that note here are the things we have planned so far for the coming weeks Monday morning Coffee - We talked this over at the meeting and whilst the last month in Goulds Homeware has been well attended, there are still several of you who are wary of being in enclosed spaces with a lot of people. To overcome this we have decided to move the coffee morning to Hendover Cafe, opposite the market, every Monday at 10.30 until further notice, apart from the Monday of the monthly meeting. They have a big outdoor covered space so we can still meet even if its raining. No need to book, Theresa Clemens and/or myself will continue to host Lunch at Lee Garden Chinese in High East Street Wednesday 11th May at 1.30 This is the first of three lunches this month. Please email me to book. Sunday Lunch at Pine Lodge Farmhouse - Sunday 15th May at 12.30 Please email me to book - remember cash or cheque only NO cards accepted here Friday 20th May - Lunch at PIP cafe Poundbury This was originally after a walk but the walk part has been cancelled and we now meet at 1pm for lunch. Please email June who is hosting Wednesday 25th May - Brunch at Shire Hall 11am This is our regular monthly brunch please email me to book Friday 27th May Weymouth Beach Wall Walk commencing 1030 Meet outside the Oasis Cafe at 1030 and take a stroll along the beach wall and then back to the cafe for lunch/brunch. You can just turn up for this one but please be prompt Thursday 16th June - trip to West Bay A little trip to the seaside for you. Leaving Dorchester at around 11am Diane Daubney and I will both drive and hopefully one more of you can also drive and offer a lift to those who don't which would give us a group of twelve. We plan on having a gentle stroll round West Bay, taking our garden chairs and spending the afternoon catching some sun and fresh sea air whilst lazing on the beach with some lunch and a lot of ice cream. email if you would like to come. If you plan to make your own way there, please let Diane or I know so that we can arrange to meet up with you in West Bay Thursday 30th June - Skittles followed by lunch at the Colliton Club 11am No previous experience required - this is just a huge amount of fun. I got home from this mornings Skittles a couple of hours ago and I'm still chuckling away. Please email to book. BOOKING Where you have been asked to book for an event would you please ensure that you rattle off an email to the host and not just turn up unannounced on the day. We need to let the venue know numbers in advance for lunch. If for some reason you are unable to email then please call or text me and I will pass it on to the appropriate person. MOTO GROUP MEMBERSHIP If you no longer wish to receive these emails, please let me know and i will remove you from the mailing list Thanks to everyone that has organised things this month. Our next planning meeting is at The Parish Centre in the downstairs classroom on Wednesday June 1st at 2pm.. Look forward to seeing you all soon. Kind Regards Chris Langthorne |
