I’ll be leading a session on ‘Ted Heath to Tubby Hayes - British Jazz in the 1950s and 60s’. Music will include tracks from Ted Heath and Tubby Hayes (of course!) and also Humphrey Lyttelton, Ronnie Scott, Stan Tracey, Joe Harriott, Tony Crombie and Johnny Dankworth amongst others.
The meeting on 8 December is our traditional ‘members’ choice’. Please nominate your choice of a favourite track (which doesn't need to be Christmas focussed) and I will prepare a playlist on my iPhone - there will be no need to bring along a CD unless the track is not available on music streaming. More details soon. And an early taster for sessions in 2026: On 12 January I will lead a session on ‘Africa: jazz and blues’, on 9 February Jim Potts will present ‘Gospel blues’, and on 9 March Rob Adams will present modern European jazz. Hopefully plenty there to whet your musical appetite, and please contact me if you’d be interesting in leading a session late in the year. Teas and coffees - volunteers needed I bring along the tea, coffee, milk and biscuits so the task involves pouring the drinks, taking the money and quick washing up afterwards. I look forward to hearing from you! |
