Our next meeting is on Monday 14 September at Sandringham Court at 10.30 (usual teas and coffee from 10am). I will be leading a session ‘So Many Roads: Chess Records 1956 to 1969’. Reflecting the breadth of Chess Records this will feature a mix of blues, RnB and soul, with artists including Howlin’ Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, Ramsey Lewis, Fontella Bass and Etta James amongst others.
On Monday 12 October Rob Andrews will be looking at piano jazz, on Monday 9 November Christina Eury-Andrews will lead a session on Big Band Swing and on Monday 14 December we will have our traditional members’ choices with obligatory mince pies. And to start 2027 in good spirits, on Monday 11 January Julie McGill will play the Three Blues Kings - BB, Albert and Freddie. if you would like to lead a session in 2027 please let me know. Several colleagues have previously done so but it would be helpful if you could confirm your interest. i look forward to seeing you on Monday 14th. Thanks Teas and coffees - volunteers needed I bring along the tea, coffee, milk and biscuits so the task involves pouring the drinks, taking the money and quick washing up afterwards.
